Title: Breakdown Cover
Post by: Nobby VW on 23 April 2014, 13:23
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum having just ordered my car, but I noticed after placing the order, that new VW's now come with only 1 years RAC assistance, I have owned several VAG group cars over the years and they have always come with 3 years cover (indeed my wife just picked up her new Skoda Yeti with 3 years cover only last month). Has anyone out there managed to push their salesman to supply with 3 years??
Hopefully I will never need it, but nice to know it's there.

Weird all my recent VW's since 2004 have been 1 year cover as standard. I have never thought to ask for 3.

FYI RAC recently lost the VW Assistance contract to the AA, so the organisation that responds will change later this year.

In 7 new VWs, I have only ever gotten 1 year breakdown cover. Skids and Audi get 3 years, Seat get 2 and VW get a measly 1 year. I'd like to think it's because VW is the most reliable VAG brand.

Never had a VW break down on me, never had an incapacitating warranty fault.

Exception is Phaeton and Touareg get 3 years.

I must say that's one of the things that I like about Audi.
Audi Assist. If you have a problem, phone them and if they have to take your car in you get provided with a courtesy car straight away. None of this waiting until the dealer can fit you in nonsense

However I reckon most faults would transpire within the first year so I'm not worried about coming back to VW
