Evening all, my name is Ben.
Not currently a owner but currently in the market for a MK5 GTI. Based just north of Edinburgh.
Was hoping to get some advise on what to look for when viewing, apart from the routine servicing, cambelt & water pump changes?
I have read that the arches can be bad for rust are there any other points to check?
Cheers

welcome  and yes rust is 1 of the many things to look for when buying a mk5 and try find 1 with good history

Morning Ben. Welcome aboard.
As with all other Vdubs, the body is pretty well put together. Just check for consistent panel gaps and paint colour to ensure the car hasn’t been pranged.
And like Barry said, try and find one with a good history.
Best of luck fella

Thanks for advice guys. Found some good threads in the MK5 (unsurprisingly) section of the site. Will keep you updated.
Thanks again.

Hi Scott, always good to know there is someone local if i need help. haha. You have some good roads around you, the glen road through to Glenfarg is good if you can get a clear run at it.
