Im after a deep throating  induction noise from a vr. I have heard some vrs with deep vr burble. I was looking and seen a few posts on vr6oc and they are rating the bmc cda kit. Is it worth the £179?? What about the k&n filters?
-
bmc is a fully enclosed filter so doesn't suffer from heat and increases performance, k&n only do open filters for the VR which are a bit louder but suffer heat soak (I had one on my VR and it didn't seem to effect power despite what people say!). Pipercross also do a enclosed viper kit for the vr but they are more expensive than bmc's (although pipercross are my favourite filter)
-
I personally think our cars are not really suited to induction kits and work best with air box and k&N or Piper Cross panel filters. However, for the noise yes a BMC will do the job but as for performance that is debatable. I could think of better ways of spending £185+.
-
My vr6 came with a open green cotton filter and that made a noise. Swapped that for a simota carbon airbox and that improved the power and made a lovely noise. But you cant beat the modified airbox for performance.
-
More bhp is a bonus but i want it purly for noise that vr grunt/burble. I have a jetex cat back (silent one) but i dont want to loose performance.
-
Like Tweed said just stick with modified airbox if you don't want to risk losing any performance. Bit of a gamle £180ish!
-
The 8v gti bottom part of the airbox should fit the vr top air box?
-
But a second hand airbox from ebay or the likes and cut some big holes in the bottom half of it.
loads of noise in five minutes, no power gains, and £180 in your pocket for petrol
When you get bored with it stick the old unmolested one back on.

Pussy

Had a Powertec induction kit on my old Vr, was made of stainless steel mesh and people always commented on how nice it sounded + no oil on the filter which can mess with the maf.

Cheers tweed.

I had a BMC CDA kit on my VR - with a Jetex decat and scorpion cat back. One the nicest sounding cars for the money I have ever heard!
Also pulled 187 on the rollers at JKM
-
A decat and Bmc Cda will not give you more performance, only noise.

got a sound or vid clip of it? This engine is pulling 184 (ben said) and then he put the 2.9 throttle and inlet and also has had it port matched
