Title: Not enough noise
Post by: Terryturbo on 18 April 2014, 15:51
My 1.8t has Recirculating Dump Valve and induction kit, stage 1 amd map but I don't hear much noise from them any ideas

You shouldn't get much noise from it, it's a recirc valve not a proper dump valve. What induction kit are you running?

Not sure mate

My car makes a nice induction roar and boost dumping sound. When i had a k&n on the maf it was not as good as the alloy pipe running next to the battery then a induction kit fitted there.

Might have to invest in a descent induction kit I think

Looks more like a splitter valve to me  :undecided:
Title: Re: Not enough noise
Post by: Terryturbo on 18 April 2014, 21:03
Yea I thought that mate the bloke I got it off said it was 008. So what's the difference
Title: Re: Not enough noise
Post by: rio_gti on 18 April 2014, 21:10
008 is a recirc valve a splitter lets some of the air dump out atmospherically to get some wooooosh so I'm surprised you don't have much sound as it is!!!!
Title: Re: Not enough noise
Post by: dom on 18 April 2014, 21:11
That cone filter looks cheap and nasty - I'd be replacing that with a decent on to begin with.

That is almost certainly a split r valve, it can be changed between a blow off and recirculating valve - you want it to be set to recirculating mode.

Post by: Terryturbo on 18 April 2014, 21:21
How do I do that then. Sorry guys I'm new to this stuff

Title: Re: Not enough noise
Post by: dom on 18 April 2014, 22:03
At the end of the day if you want a lot of turbo noise then you've bought the wrong car.

Turbo flutter on these engines is a sure fire way to kill your turbo.
Title: Re: Not enough noise
Post by: Terryturbo on 18 April 2014, 22:07
Ok wasn't really fussed about the flutter to be honest I've heard it's not good for the turbo just wanted abit more noise really but I guess it's all I'm gona get I'm gona invest in a better induction kit as mine tatty may even make a difference that way. But thanks for your help people
