Hi,
Aside to the "it's your car do what you want" approach, is there a view amongst the VW cognoscenti as to whether it's best to leave a 2010MY, immaculate and "unmolested" or to do some arguably subtle upgrades, such as the replacing - IMO - the actually quite smart originals to the very smart rear 'L' shape LED lights?
if there are views on this, I would be very interested to find out what the consensus is please.
Thanks.

Yes to rear LEDs.
I'm not one for modding (apart from a few minor cosmetic things) and like the oem look, but this is definitely a worthy upgrade. Though the older style rears are ok, they are looking rather dated now and the addition of LEDs elevates the look of the car.

Took me a while to move to the R LED ones as i was happy with the normal ones. It took me a while to decide to do it but im happy with them since I did.

I've got them and mine isn't even a GTI. I didn't like them at first due to me not liking change, however now I'm really glad I have them. I've still got my stock lights, so they could go back on at any time, but probably won't now until I sell the car.

Mine came standard on my GTD. was one of the must-haves on my list when i was shopping around for a GTD. They make the back end look so nice!

Like Jay it was a must have option when I bought my car, they improve the look so much imo

Do people just buy them from VW main agent Parts Depts and what's the cost?
What about the headlights... Do people tend to do front and rear?
Thanks

I'm keeping mine standard just because so many people are changing theres you can get aftermarket ones a bit cheaper eBay is a good resource for second hand genuine one's i'm personally not a fan of the front's i think they look tacky

I waited until someone trading up to a Mk7 had theirs for sale.
They are expensive for what they are, but there will always be a market for them when you come to sell, so you will get most of your money back, especially if like me, you buy secondhand.

Cheers... Those alloy wheels on Peter w's car are very smart!
The picture of the before and after rear lights by ajmoir does show 2 nice sets if rear lights though and again, I do like the stock non LED ones.
How much would you expect to pay for a set of genuine 2nd hand rear LED's please?
-
a definite must have.
-
Does it not seem like half a job though if your rears are LED and your fronts are not?

Not really. They came from the factory like that unless you ordered xenons.
-
And only on later xenons.
. I did look at updating mine but im not a fan of daytime running fairy lights so decided I would end up turning them off anyway so didnt see the point.

My GTD came with LEDs as standard and wouldn't have it any other way. When you follow it at night their brilliant. The fronts were done with OEM bi xenons with LEDs. That consisted of 2 headlamps and harness kit from Carsystems.pl cost in the region of £1000. Needed a highline CCEM, cost £250 from main dealer. When you do this your headlights point to the rabbits in the fields on the left! You then need the AFS kit from them at a cost of £200. Now your cooking. Code up with vagcom and you have the look. Mind ave been plagued with an error bulb since. Working on it tho.
