Hi,
My 2.0 gti is very sluggish to start only when cold, it fires up but doesn't seem to engage properly if you get me? Almost like its waiting for full power to reach the plugs? If you blip the throttle it helps it then it's fine.
Anyone had tgis before?
My starter is whining if that's relevant?
-
I have a 2l gti and my starter is whining too. I think it's very common with vw.
-
Do you get a horrible like screech sound when starting the car
-
Yeah I get the screech, guna strip it and clean/grease it but I'm not sure if that's why I'm struggling to start it proper sometimes?
-
Change the starter motor mate mine did it it wasn't very attractive lol don't wanna scare you but mine was sparking as well and could easily started a fire greese it if it still happen change it just abit of advice
-
Cheers, was yours having the same slow starting from cold issues or just the squeaking?
-
Both mate to be honest in not saying yours the same but you never know its almost like you need jump leads on it at times
-
Yeah that's exactly it, like it's not got enough power to turn itself over properly
-
Yeah i got new one and its sound starts with no problem no dirty sound just a bit pricey but worth it
-
Cheers, I'll try fixing it first and see how I get on. Cheers
-
Well I cleaned the starter up and now it's silent so that's a winner
However
From cold it struggles to start the first time, eventually catches but runs really low revs, almost like it's not on all cylinders Then stalls.
The next time it starts first turn of the key with no issues throughout the day.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
