Title: New GTD day and it's all over very quickly....
Post by: Travisthedog on 12 April 2014, 19:47
Hi

I've been lurking here for a while and yesterday after 7 and a half months my pure white GTD made into my hands

112 miles later it was being towed back to the garage with the engine management light on and a severe reduction in performance

VW dealer says "fault code says engine timing issue and it's a strip down to see what's what.

Pissed off doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling right now..........

Bad news but hopefully they get it sorted. I had VW Assisi out on my first night with 60 miles on the clock. Leaking water hose was my issue, sorted a few days later and great ever since.

I know the feeling of having a new car that you can't drive until it's fixed.

OMG.

So they are going to strip the engine down to see what the problem is.  If it were me I would be rejecting the car straight away.

Yup - ill chat to the lease company on Monday but it's difficult to have confidence in the car when this happens - plus I do 30-35k miles per year. I need reliability !!!

1st of all im sorry to hear this man from 1 golf owner to another :(

gtd's come with vvti similar to Toyotas. variable valve timing sensor could be the issue so theres less compression etc if its way out (unable to tell where the valves are opposed to the cylinders) just a guess.  hopefully its not so bad that any valves are hurt.

We'll it's all sorted but 3 days later the abs fault light came on!!!

Had to replace the abs sensor and according to rhe worksheet, wheel bearing too

Still love the car though!!
