Hi all,
First post so please be kind.
I've just brought a rather shoddy K Plate 8 V but with only 60 K on the clock.
I desperately need to upgrade the rotting BBS alloys.
Please could someone clarify tyre sizes, I'm looking for 16" or 17" but am totally confused as to the choice of tyres required as I don't want the speedo to read out...
Any Ideas???Please!!!
Best Regards
Colin

The Anniversary Mk3 was the only factory Mk3 GTI to have 16 inch wheels as standard.
These were 7 x 16 with 215 40 16 tyres.
In actual fact 215 45 16 would have been the next step up from the 205 50 15 of the normal GTI and the ride would have been a lot better so not sure why they did that but I'd go for 215 45 16 on 16's.
Can't help with 17's though.
cheers
ps www.mytyres.net is superb

If you go for 17's, 205/40/17's are the best bet. Of course if you go for 17's you'll want to lower it, otherwise it'll look like a tractor!!
Alternatively, you could always get those BBS's refurbed - they look damn good when in decent condition!!
