:angry: Hi jus wondered if anyone can help me here. my car keeps cutting out wether am going fast or slow jus dies on me.Changed leads,coil,distribuator cap,points,plugs,coil lead. After cutting out car will start wiv in a couple of minutes and run ok only to do it againengine can be hot or cold it still does it.can anyone please help me am starting to lose patience wiv it such a pain in the arse lol

I reckon the best advice I can give is to take it to your nearest VAG dealer (or specialist) and get them to stick the VAG-COM thing into the diagnostic port. At least you'll get some idea of what's playing up. Might not tell you why it's playing up, but it's a good place to start...

Just been reading on site about uther people changing the ecu relay n cleaning the throttle body out so am gonna give them a go n see how that works fingers crossed

Just pulled throttle body off n cleaned it had a carbon deposit all round the housing where the throttle butterfly sits,cleaned it off put all back together.Checked the ecu relay was red hot wen a took it out.Is this suppose to be hot or not? if not new relay on its way see if that cures it hope so!

sorted it out after cutting out on me once wen down road the other day and clutch went, had such reliability out of this car and now am seriously thinking of getting rid of it now jus one thing after another

Calm down , these things always seem to happen together . Its only cos its a VW that you notice .

just turned on 97000 miles only thing is that once the box was taking out was not the clutch was only the gearbox aswell,third gearbox on its way lol.think this will be put in n goodbye to the golf a think dont really want to sell it but what happens next

no no no no no no just get the goearbox looked at! I can't stress this enough - get the gearbox reconditioned by someone who knows what they're doing (I've been quoted £550 all in for a recon job at a specialist for a mk3 8v box) and that'll be good for another 200k - so long as you put the right oil in it and change it regularly...

cars in now getting gearbox n clutch in.Had 3 years good reliable motoring out this car,failed mot lastb year had hole in floor jus under passengers side door n a got told these things dunt rust,got usual rust spots on it on bottom ov drivers door n round corners on rear hatch uther than that the car is lovely.jus gets a bit much wen ya hands never outta ya pocket,gonna get it back get the relays n see if that cures it cutting out.was thinking about keeping it n putting rs4 alloys on it got bbs rx's on at min looks good jus use to seeing it now needs a change or a need a change ov car.see how it goes for now.Nice colour too indian red metallic comes up lovely wen polished got the eye brows on lights makes it look mean in ya rear view.dunt see many wiv these on.Just a b!tch wen they go wrong n by sounds ov it am getting all the common faults on these motors all at once .

mine just started :angry: found out it's the distributor (TDC sensor) gti 8v agg engnie . :undecided: going to fit new disey let you now how it goes

:angry: Just changed my dissy had car timed n all that,what it do after turning off n restarting cut out!! say a was bit mad was like an understatement.Lost what to try now thinking it cud be fuel pump so its going to get ecu read on computer see if there any faults and take it from there.really is becoming a pain the rear and losing comfidence in the vw badge now like :embarassed:
