Title: Few problems with my N/A 1.8 gti NEED HELP!!
Post by: dannyd126 on 10 April 2014, 10:37
Hi guys

This is quite a difficult problem to explain, but first of all my car is using a horrendous amount of fuel (like 30 miles to 20 quid)

And also it has a major acceleration issue, when pulling away it hesitates and loses power, and going up through the gears when i put my foot down it just has no power, its almost like its hitting the rev limiter too early in the gears, it will pick power back up if i take my foot off the throttle and put it back down.

I really dont know what the problem is because the engine check light isnt on either, help me please guys.

Its a 1998 gti 1.8 20v n/a

Have you scanned for fault codes?

Does it only rev to 4/5k?
