Well I'm Driving home from work tonight on the motorway and suddenly some piece of debris gets picked up from a car on my outside and smacks me straight on. I've ended up with a nasty score on the front lip of my bumper and a small gouge out of the plastic grille. Thankfully it somehow seems to have miraculously missed the front sensor and underneath the car seems to be ok although I'll need to get that checked as well.
It's so bloody annoying when it's not my fault and there's not much i could have done to prevent it. I'm hoping it can be repaired rather than replaced cause I don't really want to go down the insurance route but if needs must I will.
I'm thankful it's not a lot worse but I'm still raging

Sorry guys, was just joking. Trying to make light of a crappy situation.

Craig I used these guys http://www.dentzap.co.uk/ for my wifes bumper that was really badly scraped as she'd rubbed her car against a step!!
The repair is invisible. I was well impressed. £70 and that was done at my home one night then he came back the next to buff it up.
Their website is pretty poor but nice couple of guys. (Father and son). The father does the work and is an actual spray painter during the day so knows what he's doing.

Thanks P3asa. I've contacted the chips away guy tonight for an estimate but if he can't do it for whatever reason or it's too expensive then I'll try your guy. Thanks fella

The smart repairs are normally spot on - I'd be looking into the price for a new lower grille though, especially on a car that is that new (and looks that good!)
-
Sh1t happens unfortunately. I had a minor incident with my front bumper but in a much more obvious place, up near the headlight washer cap. The body shop were able to do a relatively localized spray job and it's perfect, you'd never tell. White is apparently good for colour matching too.
With that damage being so low down and mostly on the lower splitter, a very localized repair should sort it. The grill should be relatively cheap to replace if you really wanted to.

Each to their own but there's absolutely no need to fork out for a new bumper - this is an easy fix!

I have no intentions of buying a new bumper if i can avoid it. I'd much prefer just to get it repaired and avoid the hassle and expense of going through an insurance company.
I've got a guy coming out tomorrow to assess it and hopefully give a decent price to repair.
-
Ouch Craig  I'd get it repaired if you can, I had a new bumper and it cost me £500

It's a small scratch at the end of the day. Just about the most minor damage possible that you could present to a body shop. Any body shop that quotes you for a new bumper for that kind of cosmetic work I'd be very very wary of!

A small scratch to some, a fecking major eyesore to others, namely me. One way or another it will be fixed. I was just venting my anger at the time.

was it good or bad news mate
Good news pal. It's definitely repairable and the estimate was just over £100 so pretty happy with that. Keith reckons it will take a couple of hours so hopefully get it booked in for some time next week
I'll need to order a new grill as well and get that fitted

Only had the car 4 weeks and already someone has carelessly slammed there door into mine which has left a nasty chip on the drivers side !! Is this an easy repair ??
-
I feel you pain mate. It's ridiculous how inconsiderate some people are. I take it no one admitted responsibility? If mine can be fixed then i'm pretty sure a smart repair would easily sort that out for you.
-
Well I had my bumper repaired this morning by Keith from Chips Away and am really happy with the results. Saved me a world of financial pain
I just need to decide about the grill now. I think I'll possibly leave until my first year service is due in July and get them to replace it at that stage.

Happy dayz! Looks like a decent job, colour match ok?

It looks spot on to me Jimble. Really did a very good job matching the paint. If im being pedantic there is perhaps a very slight scarring mark where most of the damage was but you have to be close up to the car to notice. All in all very pleased with the job that has been done
-
Top job that - I'd be very happy with that.
Mind sharing how much it set you back?

Yeah no problem £110. I went to another repairer via my insurance company and they wanted to charge me £280
-
I know you'd have rather it not happened in the first place but it looks as good as new on the photos - the grille isn't massively noticeable either.
Bet you're glad to have it back looking spick and span again!

Very glad pal.. It was a sad sight seeing her injured but back to full health now, apart from the bloody doors squeaking like mad but that's another matter
-
looks like keith done a decent job on that
-
Sometimes I do long for the days when driving an old car, and stone chips/scuffs weren't a disaster situation, but there's nothing like driving a nice new car, especially when it's a true next generation car like the MK7 is with loads of new tech.

Very happy with the end result Barry. Thanks for the recommendation pal
