Title: Spark Plug, terminal cap?
Post by: SamWiseG on 08 April 2014, 12:52
Guys,

Just giving my new '95 8v GTi a mini service (as I have no idea when it was last done)

After some quick research, I bought 4x NGK BKUR6ET-10 spark plugs online only to discover they have a different terminal cap/end compared to the existing ones in the car, and therefore wont sit in the HT lead housing.

(http://i751.photobucket.com/albums/xx160/samsamsam7/IMG_2775.jpg) (http://s751.photobucket.com/user/samsamsam7/media/IMG_2775.jpg.html)

Was going to buy new leads soon anyway so figured may as well just buy some now instead...can anyone recommend new leads that'll have the correct fitment for the new plugs?

Ta in advance...

Oh and copper leads are what vw recommend.  I sell quality leads in copper for £44 the set delivered (non copper are £33)

Can I say the plugs you haver are 16v one's not 8v one's which should be BUR6ET's

I think that's your issue

b.t.w £15 a set delivered at http://oemandmore.co.uk/spark-plugs-and-glow-plugs-34-c.asp (http://oemandmore.co.uk/spark-plugs-and-glow-plugs-34-c.asp)

and this shows the leads (and ends) for the 8v

and the 16v for them plugs

Thanks for the help! I'll get the right ones!

At least I've got some nice shiny plugs in case I ever buy a 16v....

Since when did they do that??

When I last bought them plugs I unscrewed the caps to put in my 8v gti. Was couple years ago now though.

Cheeky bastards. Thats one way of making more money.

I guess they got to many complaints about them coming loose so they fixed them on.

I always had to tighten them up for karting (ngk)
