We use our Mk4 TDI as a mile muncher on long trips down the country to see family (Lake District to Oxford typically) although I have been known to go and book holiday flights from Gatwick giving me a 700mile round trip!
One thing I wish I had is a centre armrest - now I don't know if I'm missing one for a reason (ie so the seats can be tilted forward) or can I get one off ebay? (and will my seats still tilt forward?)

Yip they attach to the center console so dont get in the way at all :)
-
Quite a few on e-bay and you will need all the brackets etc to fit it also
-
Had one in my previous mk4 3door.. Does not effect seats tilting at all. I believe it was a optional extra. I never used mine after i choped down the gear stick :lipsrsealed:

I hated mine in the end, it was always in the way when it was down when changing gear

Now I'm used to mine when changing gear absolutely love it, hate driving things without one now, mind you the Passat had one and was an auto, lovely.
