Title: colour coded bumpers
Post by: X01X on 06 April 2014, 17:53
Right, this has been bugging me for a while.  What types of mk3s have colour coded bumpers and rub strips on the doors? Cos I have the crappy abs plastic bits on my bumpers and doors that fade from black to grey.

The VR6 Highline has coded bumpers and side trim. Standard VR6 just has the coded door trim I think. Some GL models have the coded bumpers ad well. Am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong

Your right, except it wasn't just highline's. All unarched VR's (from early 96) came with fully colour coded side bumpers/strips and the GL gained them at a similar time (96)

Very annoying the black plastic on a gti. Always getting polish on them! Much easier without.

Hence why I took all the pladtic trim off! Looks much better and healthier and prevents any further rust caused by water trap. A Mk3 may look immaculate on the outside but it will always be in the back of your mind what is under those wheel arches and sill trim so before forking out money doing the car up remove all trim first
