Title: Oil
Post by: benmanc on 06 April 2014, 15:34
Before anybody tries to burn me down... I have searched. A lot. Found nothing but contradicting answers and still confused.

Basically wondering what the best engine oil is for mk4 AGU that has done 108k?

Also fully syth or semi?

Thanks

I only use full synthetic. Its better for the engine because there is no sludge build up with it

My 0w40 edge is same price, and my genuine filters are usually £8. Just in case you want to stay Castrol

I have no problems with Carplan oil (I sold it for several years), as long as it meets VW 505 01 it will be fine. The only thing I can say about my oil is it is from VW so defiantly exceeds there spec's (it is same stuff as used in a vw dealership oil change)

I run 10/40 semi quality oil change it every 4k never had any issues with any engine I have had on semi. Put fully in a BMW once sounded like a sewing machine been a semi on any car I have owned since.
