Don't know why but seem to have the gearbox from American taxi,I have previously owned 05 plate mk5 gti with dsg and had lag free gear changes, but on the mk7 especially from 1st to 2nd it's so slow, sometime not even changing at all until the car hit rev limiter & upshifts on it own.

Strange, is this in normal mode while you drive or sport. Mine likes to get to 6th gear as soon as possible when changing up in normal like my old mk6.

This is when I'm driving in sport or normal mode using the paddle shifts, there is a big noticeable delay from pressing the button to the gear changing.

Think most on here would say you need to get it checked
The paddle changes in manual or when overriding the automatic are instant and seamless.
Drive - Gets you to 6th as quickly as is possible if just within town speed limits but is intelligent enough to hang on to gear if you push it while in D and then once settle quickly move to 6th
Sport - Does hang onto gear near to rev limit and sometimes that is not appropriate so I tend to override. Sport has best use on long stretches not 'bursts' around local roads you may as well stay in D
You can still have the 'sport' mode setting of flattened and firmer suspension (DCC) and be in drive either by the mode selector or just pulling the DSG lever back which cycles gearbox between D & S in an instant.
Tend to have mine in comfort and just change the gearbox setting with this method as appropriate.
Have recently been using paddles more as now more in tune with using them as had 6 months.
Any of these options would have the gear change happen instantly and most of the time to point you hardly notice the upshift so if you are having long gaps after selecting then suggest something is wrong.

I see if the dealer has another dsg gti to compare with, but most certainly have a problem my gear changes are from instant, Not good from a car that has only 1100 miles on the clock.
