Good afternoon,
so i've been getting engine oil into the gearbox bell housing causing clutch slip :(
i changed the end crank seal for a genuine seal from vw and a few weeks down the line i noticed oil and slipping again.
i fitted new end seal and gasket and new clutch and pressure plate.
the seal was a real tight fit so unsure where the problem lays.
has any one seen this before?

My last 16v had this, turn out to be from the oil pressure switch

are you sure it is engine oil? and not gear oil.

100% engine oil

For engine oil Could only be crank seal/plate gasket, sump gasket and oil dripping down from the side of the block and into the bell housing if the bung is missing
There is also a small core plug in the block at the end of the intermediate shaft this is a blocked off oil gallery and partly covered by the bell housing they do corrode if water/coolant gets trapped around it.
Did you just change the seal or a complete new flange with seal already fitted. I have found its better to change the complete flange.

When you replaced the seal did you check the shaft for any roughness or scratches etc?

I just changed the seal and pressed it into the flange. Where can I order the complete part from?
No didn't think to check for any scratches :(
Wondered if it could of been a slight bit of play in the crank causing the problem? Can't hear any signs or bottom end ware. Only thing I have noticed is a vibration in the clutch pedal. If I rest my foot on it I can feel it but as soon as I even apply a slight bit of pressure it stops.

I doubt very much you will have play in the crank. Shells would be gone and would be making knocks and bangs

It could be the housing plate is warped, if and when you have it removed next check it with a straight edge.

Thanks for all your help guys. Going to strip it down in the next week or so and replace the glange and seal as one and pray it works as this will be the 3rd clutch in under a year and it's not the quickest of tasks.
