Anyone been confirmed as BW18 yet, or am I a bit premature?
...Checking the tracker almost hourly  surely gotta change soon as it's nearing 3 weeks :embarrassed:
-
you got a long time buddy! my car has arrived in the uk already, and the waiting game is killing me now!
jimmy filth, PJR and few others are in my boat too. Il be here to keep you motivated! trust me, knowing others that going through the same emotions will keep you going!
my tracker didn't change for nearly 4 weeks! and when it did, it went from build week confirmed (23/03) to build complete on the 22/03! a day before it was scheduled.
that felt good.
same thing happened for transit. many still looking for the ship the car was meant to be sent on.. mine just miraculously arrived in the uk! I hope the same will happen for others!
-
Woohoo!!! BW18 finally confirmed!!! Tracker updated today, it says confirmed for production week 27/04/14 which is a Sunday - I'm guessing VW start their working week on Sundays and not on Mondays no?

-
Hi guys, also got a tracker update to say mine will be BW 18!
Btw, you can sign up for text alerts for any progress on the tracker and they come through quicker than the online updates!

what have you ordered mate?
-
Carbon grey GTD, 5 door, manual
Keyless, sport & sound, high beam assist + rear camera
...can't wait!!!
What about you?
-
5dr GTD, tornado red, keyless, climate screen & ATP
Know what you mean.... My missus says I need to grow up ha!
-
So I reckon we should be collecting our cars on the last week of May...
Anyone know if it might be sooner or later than this? Need to get insurance and reg transfer sorted!
-
You'll get 5 days free drive away insurance so plenty of time to sort it then.
-
If the car arrives on the last week of May then I won't be able to pick mine up until the 16th June at the earliest. As mine is a company car they will only let me collect it on certain dates. So May is between 19th-23rd and June is between 16th-20th. I very much doubt the car will be shipped, transported to dealer and PDI'd by May 19th so I'm kinda telling myself it's going to be mid June :-(
-
That must be torture! ...I'll collect it for you if you want?
-
Sad to say I thought I would be joining you guys however last week it moved back to BW20 and this morning I was told BW22. Did anyone experience something similar until their car was confirmed? Supplying dealer gave me a load of chat about MY15 changes etc and high demand but they have had the order since 14th March!
-
I think BW22 would be about right in that case as mine was ordered 3rd Feb!
-
yup, I was told BW16 originally then it got put back to BW18. I ordered on the 5th Feb
-
So are there only us two confirmed for BW18 then?!?!
-
I am in the BW18 club as well :)
CG GTD
-
 Nice to have you here breezasib! Another carbon Grey GTD... good choice! Any toys on it? 3/5 door?
-
5 door manual
Keyless
Winter Pack
Park Assist
Reversing Camera
Can't wait
-
Welcome to our micro-club!
-
Not long until our BW now fella's!
-
Right then time to go on a three week bender  by the time I come round my car might be approaching the UK
-
Hell yeah! Builds start tomorrow
-
Finally being born into the world :smug:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H1c_6_AxrQ
-
  Oh yeah get in! Mine better be at the top of the BW18 list
-
On the tracker mine is still at build week confirmed however I had to pop into the dealers today to pickup a part for my wife's car and the salesman said it was currently mid build and should be completed by tomorrow.
Anyone else had any movement? I noticed the BW17ers all got their shipping notices at the start of BW18 so maybe Easter held things up a bit.
-
I wonder how he would know when an individual car on the production line would be completed? I doubt they get a breakdown with that much detail?
Still, I'm hopeful that Hans and Fritz are lovingly piecing my car together as we speak!
-

Yes theirs is a lot more detailed and can tell what part of the build stage its at. i.e. stage 3 of 5
-
Ah cool. My dealer said their system is still at the same status so will hopefully move up next week!
-
I got an email yesterday to arrange delivery of my gti and the 15th may is the earliest they can manage. Not long now
-
Aaaaaaah that's less than two weeks! I was just assuming 4 weeks from build. Hope mine comes this month
-
If everything runs to plan you should get it before the end of the month.
My build is next week and I've been told the end of the month
If you look at the build week 15 thread, some of them were getting it by build week 17
-
Oh crap - looks like it was the labour day holiday yesterday in Germany. That won't help with production or quality me thinks :(
-
I'm not expecting the tracker to change until BW19, it seems to skip the 'build in progress' stage and just go straight to the shipping stage. From looking around on here, most take about a week after the BW to change on the tracker.
As for delivery.... I'm still praying it will be here and PDI'd before the 23rd May, if not it'll be sat at the dealers for a month - My company will only allow it to be released on certain dates :-( (see previous post)
-
Woohoo!!! My online tracker has changed to 'stage 5 in transit'
-
Woohoo!!! My online tracker has changed to 'stage 5 in transit'
Great news mate. Its been born
-
Will it really take 4 weeks though to reach the dealer? :(
-
Can do mate, my car (bw15) went to Transit on 8th April and it's still sitting at the dock waiting for a truck to the dealer. Will hopefully arrive this week which will be 4 weeks of transit.
It's a bit of a lottery, some of the guys on bw15 had much faster arrivals, which was quite funny as my car was the first to leave the factory according to the tracker  So expect 4 weeks and then you can get a nice surprise if you are one of the lucky ones :)
-
Well mine was bw 16 still waiting for ship to uk.
-
How do you guys track it from port > ship > dealer?
-
Emailed my lease company. U can ask yr dealer about it.
-
Last night it was still at 'build week confirmed' this morning it has moved to 'build in progress' but haven't received a text or email. Bit strange as it's now technically build week 19.
-
Now just received the 5a (in transit: left factory) text. That's more like it :)
-
Just updated to stage 5B :D
-
One step ahead of mine
It's due to come in to Sheerness and I see a boat has just left so may be a bit of a wait at Emden for me.
-
Got the tracker update text this morning! Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order has progressed to stage 5a of 7 (in transit: left factory).
-
5b this morning so it's sat at Emden waiting for a ship.
Didn't have much luck with my last car as it sat for 3 weeks before making it across to Sheerness.
Anyone know which ships do the Sheerness run?
-
Chaps, I emailed the dealer who is supplying my company car. As mentioned in a previous post my company will only allow release of the car between certain dates. So may is 19th-23rd and June is 16th-21st.
Got an interesting reply...
Good Morning Martin,
I have tracked your vehicle also on our systems and we are awaiting for the
vehicle to arrive into the UK, I am hoping that your vehicle will be
available for collection for the dates you have provided. I will keep you
updated once I know a definite of arrival.
At the current checkpoint your vehicle is at , I would normally suggest a
10-14 days to arrive on site here at Inchcape Telford Volkswagen in which
the vehicle will undergo a Pre Delivery Inspection before collection.
Many Thanks
Mike Hughes
Fleet Supervisor
Looking promising for May collection then... :D
-
From that estimate sounds like yours may be on a ship already!
-
I've sent another email to the dealer asking if he is able to tell me if it is a ship and if so which one. Awaiting a reply from them....
-
Email from my dealer this morning to say my car should be here in the next 10 days!
-
Where is your dealer located Ross?
-
Greenock. It's not exactly local to me but I've been dealing with the fleet manager so that's where the car is being processed through.
-
Did you get the 5b and 5c updates from the tracker
-
No - latest I got was the 5a text that I posted on Sunday which I also thought was surprising.
-
When you go on the tracker site how many days/weeks is it saying til it typically reaches the dealer. 4 weeks means its left the factory, 3 weeks means its at Emden, 10 days means its on a ship.
-
I've had a text update this morning...
Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order no. 2408**** has progressed to stage 5c of 7 (in transit: near the UK). To STOP login to vw.co.uk
I've also checked the tracker which says...
Your car is in the final stage of its journey to the UK. On average it takes 10 days from build for this model to reach your local Volkswagen Retailer.
Woohoo!!!! :D :D :D
-
When you go on the tracker site how many days/weeks is it saying til it typically reaches the dealer. 4 weeks means its left the factory, 3 weeks means its at Emden, 10 days means its on a ship.
All the tracker shows is stage 5 - in transit and it says below it: "Your car has been built and has now left the factory. On average it takes 4 weeks from build for this model to reach your local Volkswagen Retailer."
The text updates seem better than the tracker TBH.
CarMadDad - good stuff! I still can't help but think that 10 days is ambitious when you read some of the other BW threads but fingers crossed!
-
Yeah I agree, but here's to hoping!
-
Can't believe it, my car is in the UK already! Update from this morning...
Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order no. 2408**** has progressed to stage 6 of 7 (arrived in UK). To STOP login to vw.co.uk
Online tracker...
Your car has now arrived in the UK and will be delivered to your local Volkswagen Retailer shortly. This normally takes 7 days.
:D
-
11 days from start of build week to arriving in the UK, that's gotta be some type of record?!?!
-
double post
-
Wow that is quick!
Mine has been released for shipping at Emden but no sign of it getting on a ship yet :(
-
You reckon you missed the last ship?
-
Appears to be a lottery as far as getting a ship is concerned some roll straight on like you and others can sit for a few weeks. Frustrating!
-
Still no sign of mine getting on a ship
-
How do you find out if the car's on a ship or not? Is it just a case of asking the dealer?
-
The tracker should show "average of 10 days to reach dealer" if it's on a ship. Mine still shows three weeks to go.
If the tracker is broken for you then yes your dealer will be able to tell you.
-
Rosstours - how long does it say for yours on the tracker?
-
Tracker still says this model takes an average of 3 weeks to reach the dealer but my dealer told me roughly ten days last week and I've had 2 5a texts from the tracker so no idea when to expect it.
-
I'm hoping mine will arrive at the dealers mid week
-
Get in!!!! My car has arrived at the dealers....
Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order no. 2408**** has progressed to stage 7 of 7 (your car has arrived). To STOP login to vw.co.uk
Online tracker....
Your vehicle has been delivered to your local Volkswagen Retailer and is available for collection. Your Retailer will contact you soon to arrange your handover. Thank you again for your order and happy motoring!
Just over two weeks from build to arriving at dealers. That's brilliant! Just got to arrange collection now :D time to start getting excited! :D
-
Lucky you!
Mine is still stuck at Emden waiting for a ship to Sheerness. What is annoying is that some BW19 cars have already got a ship to that port
-
Tracker still says it takes an average of 30 days for me! Should be hearing from my dealer later today.
-
Yeah that is annoying breeze! There seems to be no logic to it at all just pot luck!
Ross - is the dealer ringing with an update or to confirm it has arrived?
-
I was emailing her yesterday about changing over my private plates and she said the tracker usually updates on a Tuesday so she would let me know of any progress today. I'm doubting there'll be anything to report since I've not had a tracker text or anything.
-
All sorted. Collect @ 1pm on Monday :D
-
Today's text: Volkswagen order update: Your Golf order has progressed to stage 5c of 7 (in transit: near the UK).
Good times.
-
Looking forward to the photos from you two to keep me going as there is still no sign of mine shipping and no carriers that do the Sheerness run anywhere near Emden.
-

I thought exactly the same as my tracker wouldn't update for nearly 10 days. Then skipped 5b and went stright to 5c. Now it's at 6 of 7. The ship was different though - my GTI came on the Seine Highway which has just landed in Sheerness after departing Emden last night...maybe your one is on that one and will update in the morning?

Nice idea but I would have thought it would have gone to 5c this morning if it was on the Seine Highway last night but you never know with the tracker I suppose.
-
Oddly enough I had my text of stage 5c when the ship had already docked at Sheerness. When I rang my dealership they tracked the same. Here's hoping for you
-
We'll keep ya goin mate! If it's any consolation mine was off the boat just as soon as it got on. Didn't have chance to find out what ship mine was ever on :/
-

Tracker has finished it's update this morning and still nothing
African Highway is now at Emden and that sometimes does the Sheerness route. Fingers crossed.
-
There's only 4 expected arrivals into Sheerness in the next 6 days, none of which are car carriers
Surely for a port that size that can't be right?
http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ports/198/_:cba1019acafc9d527ea1b2bcdb328b36
I'm waiting also.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that, there always appear to be more arrivals than the list would lead you to believe.
-
Really can't believe yours isn't on a boat yet. What are they playing at?!
-
Anymore news fellas?
-
Anymore news fellas?
Still nothing. Good luck with you handover tomorrow.
-
Cheers mate. Will get some pics up soon as I can
-
Yes, enjoy the pickup and grinning all day :D
I forgot about most of my checklist when I saw the car but it was all spot on anyway :)
-
Well I'm about to set off to pick up the new motor :D think I may take the scenic route home....
-
Well I'm about to set off to pick up the new motor :D think I may take the scenic route home....
Enjoy!!! I was grinning ear to ear when I saw mine and drove it. Guy walked me round it, I was just like yeh give me the keys il get to grips with the details later ha
-
Enjoy!! With the weather out as well you'll have a blast!
Just checked with my dealer and my GTI should be with them by mid week. Relatively quick transfer. Just checked that the Viking Constanza is at Emden at the moment and has been for last 24hrs. Good chance that another batch to Sheerness coming on that one based on how it's been moving in the past. Breeza, here's hoping your one is on that boat
-
Hopefully mine too... fingers crossed!
CarMadDad - enjoy mate! Pics as soon as poss!
-
The Emden is due to land at Emden and its another one that carries vehicles to Sheerness.
-
Well. I picked it up. Here's a few pics:

First impressions?.... Well, the amount of stuff to get your head around is overwhelming at first. Really gonna have to read the manual on this one! Ha! I've found the keyless to be very cool! A really useful feature. The clutch is taking a bit of getting used to, but that's prob because I'm used to an auto. It really does pull well in gear, 3rd is a hoot! 6th seems to be nothing more than a cruising gear. Can't wait to really flex the car when it's been run in, I feel guilty every time I give the fast pedal a gentle prod hehe! Seats are comfy, but don't think I've found the perfect position yet.
Anyway all good so far from my first 60 mile drive :D
-

Yep due in to Sheerness tomorrow night. I have everything crossed :)
-
Well. I picked it up. Here's a few pics:
Looks fantastic! Not jealous much...
-
Looks awesome. I was so choosing Tornado Red too. Otherwise, manual, 5 door, 18" alloys, keyless... Very similar to mine, I'm so jealous. Haha
How is the keyless entry? What happens if you just walk away and don't press the dimple on the handle? Does it lock anyway?
-
Keyless is great. Works really well. I've looked everywhere for this nipple but I can't seem to find it anywhere so I've just been locking it with the fob for now :/
-
Car looks great CarMadDad! :D
It's an, er, inverted nipple :) Looking at the drivers door it's 2 little indented lines on the left of the handle, just hold a finger on it for a sec and voila! Got to say I love the keyless, and I now find it frustrating having to use an old fashioned "key" to get into my house
-
Ffrank- I thought you only put your finger/thumb there to unlock the car? Does it also lock it?
-
Yay! It's on the Viking Constanza as I just got the 5c update.
-
That's great news breeze
-
Stage 6 of 7 this morning... car is in the UK! ...Getting closer
-
Only another week or so Ross
-
Ffrank- I thought you only put your finger/thumb there to unlock the car? Does it also lock it?
I would draw a pic, but I'm at a customers :) I'm not sure how good the manual is for this, but to unlock you put you hand (4 fingers) insider the handle, as if you are going to pull on the handle (sensor is on the right inside the handle.)
To lock, yes - you briefly touch the little dimple on the left outside of the handle.
I like to hang my jacket in the back seat so I just stick my hand in the front handle to unlock then open the rear door, works quite well as before I got the car I was imagining I would have to physically open the front door first.
The boot just unlocks when you open it, and locks itself when you close it.
-
Just found out that the white collar MDI cable that was supplied won't connect with my iPod :( emailed the dealer and asked for a green collar one... Muppet!
-
Stage 7 text this morning! now to sit by the phone until the dealer tells me I can come and get it! haha
-
Stage 7 text this morning! now to sit by the phone until the dealer tells me I can come and get it! haha
Wow that was a quick transport from port to dealer. Nice one!
-
Haha that's what I though as well! Don't know whether to phone the dealer myself or be patient... the latter does nothing for me.
-
Haha that's what I though as well! Don't know whether to phone the dealer myself or be patient... the latter does nothing for me.
Hell I would be on the phone right now instead of on the forum :)
-
RD what port was your car coming into?
-
I'm afraid I have no idea P3asa!
-
Got my stage 6 text this morning now hoping for a quick transport to the dealer although my sales guy is saying they have to allow up to 2 weeks!
-
two weeks???? are they pushing it from the port??? Mine took 2 days to arrive from port to dealer
-
Yeah port to dealer seems pretty quick. Mine was actually delivered to the dealer on Tuesday morning! Should collect it later next week as I need to sort all the finance paperwork and then allow 4 days before it will be taxed! Anyone else have this to deal with or maybe it's because mine is a hire agreement?
-
The tax is done there and then as you apparently can drive out without the tax. Its sent to you via post.
Take their 5 or is it 7 day free insurance so you can sort that at your leisure.
-
Correct... I drove my car away without a tax disc. They were waiting for it to come in the post and will forward it to me when it comes. As long as it shows as having tax on the VOSA database you'll be fine. By Oct I think they are getting rid of tax discs and going fully online with it
-
hmmm cheers guys, I'll need to quiz them on it! Must be something to do with paperwork.
-
VW Customer Services have said that it won't be on a transporter until Friday. Shame as I was hoping to pick it up next weekend.
How long does it take for the dealer to PDI it?
-
Ah Breeza, that seriously sucks. Must have been a backlog at Sheerness. Mine is due for handover tomorrow (pretty excited) but in terms of PDI, was told it's about 24-48hrs after arriving at the dealership. Speak to your dealer straight away to get timings. Have you had your reg docs through? Mine sorted as soon as the car landed on uk shores
-
I did ask when it would be registered and they said on the day of the handover which I thought was a bit strange.
-
Is a bit strange. My guy registered as soon as it hit the port. Then sorted out finance docs a week before pickup, gave me phone number for VW insurance to sort out ahead. Give them a nudge as seems they're being a bit lax about it!
-
So I'll be collecting mine on Thursday! Can't wait, it's been sitting at the dealers for a week now and although they said I could go and "visit" it if I want, I just want to drive the bloody thing! Really looking forward to seeing it in the metal!
-
lol, I'm excited for you Ross.
I found mine strange when I first set off from the dealers, everything was so new and tight (well, still is!) Loved that journey home, although it is a bit of a blur as I couldn't enjoy the drive that much due to all the new gizmos etc. and getting used to the surroundings.
Don't forget pics...
-
I had a demo for 3 days so I know exactly what to expect, although it was a 3 door DSG so not exactly the same. Just a shame I can't show it some boot for a good 1000 miles or so.
-
I'm sure I read a statistic somewhere about how the first few hours in a new car can be lethal for accidents as the driver is too busy exploring rather than fully concentrating on the road
I know I was like that with my A1 as it had all sorts of stuff like internet access. So be careful
And good luck
-
Dealer registered my car today and kindly emailed me a choice of about 10 registrations.
Still no sign of it arriving until Friday but strangely got a second stage 6 (arrived in UK) text at about 1:30pm, all my other updates have come just before 9am. Strange..
-
The tracker was down for hours. I posted in case it was just me.
I got an email and text at 1.23 but both with the wrong info.
It stated I'd gone back a stage.
-
Good luck with the handover tomorrow Ross
-
Well here she is...
I won't go mental with pics as we all know by now what a Carbon Grey 5 door looks like but I'm over the moon with it. Can't wait to rack up some miles so I can really put the boot in and see how it goes!

-
Awesome mate! :)
-
Look at you with your sport and sound pack bling  Looks absolutely fantastic! Love the colour, just as well as I have ordered the same :)
-
Just yours now breeze...
-
Looks the bollocks RD. I'll keep an eye out for you.
-
Cheers P3asa. Yeah me too, I'll have my private plates back on soon so will be even easier to spot as it says Ross! haha
-
Mine is due at the dealers today with handover booked in for Tuesday afternoon. Finally
-

Fitted boot, vanity mirror & reversing light LEDs tonight. Just the glove box to do tomorrow.

Nice. Looking good! I've got all the bulbs sitting there ready to go too! Don't know whether to use the bright LED's for reversing lights or try them in the indicators!? I know they might not be as bright as the OEM bulbs but I'd like to go LED for the turn signals!
