I need peoples opinions!!
So my car is currently up for sale, I wont go into details as its in the for sale section. The first guy came to view it today and liked it, he pointed out all the little blemishes and its currently up for £13k and he offered £12k and wouldnt even consider meeting in the middle.
Now its an 09' plate car with 53k on the clock so it has some parking dinks but nothing major. Im very tempted by his offer as I reckon that it would be a few hundred pounds to sort out all the bodywork but....
Would anyone get all this sorted prior to selling and get as higher price as possible or would you let it go for a grand under what im asking??
Your thoughts please!!

It's a hard one to answer really if your happy with what he as offered then take it. Without seeing the parking dents and were they are ie if they are an easy cold dent or a pain to get repaired it is hard to say. I have seen your advert and it does look a nice car. £12000 is a lot of money but then again it's a lot of car hope you sell it soon good luck

Just looked at your add, very nice spec.
Yes you would get £13,000 quite easily if the paint / body was up to scratch. As it not, people can chip you down.
I think £12,500 would be acceptable if he ever comes back. Having Xenons, ACC and RNS will go along way to helping you.

It sounds like he had set is budget and was strong enough to stick to it. Had he started at £11,000, would you have met in the middle then?
When I was in car sales, I was taught to take the first offer if it was a realistic one as the next one might be along time coming, unless I had people queuing up to buy the car.
He may well be playing the long game and come back to you with a higher bid, however talking about the deal on a public forum will have just shown him your hand, so you could well have put yourself on the back foot when it comes to any future negotiating. Possibly with anyone else too.

The way I see it is looking at your advert, you mention one wheel needs a refurb (£100), you mention one dent (£70 dent removal), scuffed bumper (£100 smart repair), new mot shortly (£40), £200 for some road tax in next couple of months. That's just over the £500 you were willing to come down, so stick to your guns at £12500.
Good luck I hope you get what you want, selling privately can be a headache don't get hung up trying to please the first person who comes along wait for the third/fourth/sixth whatever and sell to them.

Whether you hang out for more really depends on how much interest you've got from your advert. If the phone hasn't stopped ringing then stick to your guns. If you've only had one enquiry then perhaps you need to be realistic.
Personally I wouldn't get the defects fixed because the next punter will try and knock you down for something else anyway. From my experience, people will find faults with a car, knock off a certain amount to cover the cost, buy the car and then never get the issues fixed.
Have you only advertised on here ? And did you get much interest ? I notice Pistonheads classifieds is a mess these days so you may need to stick to Autotrader.
I'm about to advertise my 2012 GTi DSG (3-door) next weekend as my M135i is on it's way from Germany. But it is hard to price as the specs can vary so much - low spec 2012 GTis are under £18k but mine is high spec (RNS510, sunroof etc) and low mileage (17k). Will I get any more for it or simply more calls ? Hard to say....!
