Title: Candy White GTi Build Thread
Post by: GTi_Jamie91 on 02 April 2014, 20:46
Hi everyone. My names Jamie.

I've recently purchased a 61 plate Candy White MK6 GTi with Jacara Cloth interior. I'm waiting on delivery (hopefully this Friday 4th April 2014) from an official Volkswagen UK dealer. The car has 15,000 miles on it, it's manual with 18" Monza Shadow wheels.

I have a few ideas for it already including 3" Milltek Exhaust system, an induction kit like a CDA one and a few subtle little mods including black wheels and roof.

Would love to hear peoples opinions or ideas for it. Anyway, heres a few pictures from the dealer.

(Please let me know if the pictures are to big or if i need to downsize the megapixels or something.)

I've got the exact same car , I'll put a pic up later but mud flaps on it make it look so much better , not at all like a rally car.

Very nice! (but then I am biased)  unusual for a 61plate to have cloth, enjoy

Changing the radio for a RCD510 or even an RNS510 (I just happen to have one to sell ) would make the world of difference to the interior.

Glad you like the roof

On my list of things todo still is induction kit, turbo back, remap, 40mm ish lowering, graphite wheels, LED exterior lights/bright white headlights, WALK, dog bone bushing.

Things I've done so far (not much) 3" cat back, rns510 (makes interior look so much better), LED interior lights and red footwell lights

You'll have fun making the car your own!

Fitted some little decals to the seat adjusters. I think they really transform the look of the car. (http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv49/CorradoMechanic/Golf%20MK6%20GTi/CAM00506.jpg) (http://s668.photobucket.com/user/CorradoMechanic/media/Golf%20MK6%20GTi/CAM00506.jpg.html)

Fitted some yellow Lamin-X Fog light tints. (Messed up the drivers side one a little bit but luckily doesn't stand out from a distance. Might try and get some more later on to fix the problem.

I'm going to get a Milltek system. Just need to save some money up after spending all my savings on the car.

Just keep an eye open on the for sale section on here, I got my cat back for £350 instead of £900ish

Hopefully the 3 inch cat back for now. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely keep an eye out as I'm not looking to get it for a while.

Nice.

I keep thinking of things to do to mine to, whichis a candy white GTD. To be honest, as it's a daily I've been saving to get the extras that weren't on the air when I got it, which it integrated bluetooth with audio streaming and front and rear parking sensors.

I looked into the rear LEDs as I have the old style ones, and I think thr LEDs look great, but the recoding for them puts me off... Cosmetically, I really the black on white look, so just looking to get the usual things painted/wrapped/dipped, which would be thr front splitter, wing mirrors and roof.

But above all that, I'm thinking that a remap is the priority. I've seen Docs posts about Carbon tuning, and will probably try to get in touch as who can argue with better performance and potentially better economy :)

Good luck with the mods mate, hope you can get all the money together to do what you want!

Jonny

I keep thinking about changing the rear lights but I don't think it's worth the money, the recoding with VCDS really isn't hard and it's not something to be worried about one bit. If you get a copy or know someone who has there some nice little tricks you can do. Things like turning off the auto rear wiper when putting into reverse and dial staging.

A cat back I think is a must as it give the GTI the sound it should have but doesn't become over powering and can still have a convo when sitting at 70 on the motorway

Got the roof wrapped today by Premier Signs in Colchester. (I would highly recommended, friendly bunch of guys with very good prices.) Cost £150 + VAT. Let me know what you think. The material is 3M black Carbon.

Apr Carbonio Stage 1 intake installed, along with Porsche 911 oil cap and coolant cap. All brought from awesomegti.com. Some of you will notice that part of the engine cover is missing as i've stripped it down to be sent away and get dipped in white and black carbon.

That looks like a quality job   I do like a black roof on a candy white.

Engine will look smart once the finished cover is on too.  Any other plans?

Been a long time since I posted here but while I've been gone I've finally got round to buying Stage 2 of the Carbonio Intake system from AwesomeGTi, installing the new look engine cover that has been dipped in true gold weave look carbon fibre by AquaGraphix and had I've had the Centre of the cover, the battery cover and the fuse box cover all sprayed in matching candy white paint by a mate who does vehicle spraying .

It's amazing, makes the turbo dump valve sound a lot louder and looks so much nicer than standard in my opinion.

I've had mine on for a couple of months now and not had any problems with it. Even had a couple of people question if it's real carbon as well lol. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Was recently at a car show and saw stone carbon fibre wrap for sale (2x1metre) for £20 so thought I'd buy some and have a go at wrapping the front splitter. First time ever doing anything like this and I thought it turned out okay, for a beginner.

(http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv49/CorradoMechanic/Golf%20MK6%20GTi/CAM00834.jpg) (http://s668.photobucket.com/user/CorradoMechanic/media/Golf%20MK6%20GTi/CAM00834.jpg.html)

I've got lots left and after looking around on the internet and trying to decide what to wrap next I chose the ashtray and gear stick around. To wrap this I removed the parts completely from the car and done it properly. What do you think?

Not sure yet. Just been looking around and trying to find out who's the best. I'm quite tempted by AMD Tuning in Essex as they are local to me and seem to be quite a well known name.

I will try and dig out where they came from, I had to get the plates and then get the surround separate. The surrounds are probably cheaper on Ebay. I think I paid about £30 for the plates as well.
