Title: Halfords crap colour match grrr!!!
Post by: rich1977 on 31 March 2014, 23:20
As you have might have seen on my build thread I've done some paint work on the rear end and arches of my golf, now I'm happy with the Finnish but the colour match is off, I bought alpine white which is correct to my car, but it's more a creamy white than bright white. Now it's isn't a major problem as arches will be covered by trim and you won't see where paint meets old paint on valance due to the bumper.

But I will be painting a few more obvious bits soon, do vw still sell the paint? Or can someone suggest I decent brand with good colour match, I only used halfords as had my trade card and saved me a fair bit on other stuff such as primer and filler ect.

Also what the hell has gone into pint now days to make it run, I've painted loads of stuff and never had runs, but this stuff had to be dusted on in really light coats .

Any help appreciated

I've used flash red from Halfords on the rear of my car, when I polish it, it looks obvious but not noticeable the next day with the crap off roads, what about finding a local paint stop and give them your paint code and have them make you some personal cans up?
