Title: Can you Re-Map a 2.0 8v GTI?
Post by: ksab on 31 March 2014, 12:07
I'm new to GTI's so forgive me if i ask some silly questions.
Can you re-map a standard 2.0 8v gti and will it change much?
I bought one about a month ago. I know they're not as fast as the 1.8t and never will be but is there small mods that can be done?

yes, you can map any car.

worth it on the 2.0? no.

will see around 10bhp increase if your lucky.

only good way to tune a n/a car is camms etc. which is expensive, or sticking a turbo on it. (or both  as my mate has recently done on his striped out clio sport...)

on a 2.0, just go for cosmetic mods, if you really want speed then when you can afford it buy a 1.8t

Yes but it is in real terms not worth it as any gains are tiny.
