Hi there.
Please can you help, particularly the Mk 6 GTI experts.
I own an October 59 registration Mk 6 Golf GTI. I purchased it second hand in July 2012 from Listers in L.Spa an authorised a VW dealership, and it has been a real pleasure to drive. However, a couple of weeks ago the timing chain went (see my update under relevant section if interested), thankfully I purchased a two year VW warranty at the time I bought the car from Listers. This has meant I have not had to pay anything for the timing chain problem to be fixed.
With this in mind, my existing VW backed warranty expires in July 2014. As I am useless with anything mechanical, please can anyone recommend a suitable warranty for me to purchase in July?
many thanks

Did you buy it as a VW Approved Used Car? If so, I think you can purchase an extended warranty when existing one expires. They usually write to you beforehand with this offer.

I've heard good things about this lot.
Don't get RAC or Warranty Wise. They are essentially a bunch of liars, cheats and con artists.

My warranty on my Golf ran out in Jan 2013, so I've not had one since then. I can't say that I've even given it a thought.
Just over a year ago I traded my 2004 Passat V6 TDI for another Passat. I had that for 8 years and did 110,000 miles in it. In all that time, the only thing that would have been subject to a warranty claim was a power steering hose that popped off.
It's a gamble, running a car with no warranty, but for me (so far) has been one worth taking.

my 59 plates ran out last October i didnt bother renewing either felt it was to much money, never had to claim anything since i got the car its only done 20k though.

All VW warranty experts, many thanks for your guidance and wisdom.
In light of my timing chain issue, which would have cost me over £2k if I did not have a warranty, I am likely to try and hedge my future bets and extend my warranty.
Many thanks
