Mate you are a hero!!!

Remove the two screws from the handles pockets on the rear trim and start pulling the clips from the lowest edge first. Then once the trim is removed two bolts for the rear catch and the electrical connector. Its interesting that your 59 GTD is so knacked.
-
Yes it is. There's a micro switch in the tailgate locking latch (door part) and this triggers the boot light on opening/closing the tailgate. Sounds like you'll need to to remove the latch in order to check it. Maybe the micro switch is broken or jammed. If it's knackered maybe need new latch.

You don't have much luck with your boot do you. Lol

Cheers guys i know its knackered rubbish or what......or..... I notice things others don't? I use helicopter wiring diagrams day in day out that one is harder to read lol if the switch is beggared i'll solder a new in all the trim is all ready off to get access to the washer hose stupid question but its not a switched earth is it? No idea why it would be
-
I believe it is a switched earth
CLICK IT, its more readable and slightly larger.

It would make sense as light didn't work when i got car high resistance on the earth so spured in cigarette lighter earth
-
Fixed it! Unconvienced the switched earth came off the boot latch as i followed it and it goes down the drivers rear footwell so added my own switched earth off pin 4 of the boot latch microswitch hate takin the boot trim off tho its a bloody pain!
