Title: pictures on phone setting
Post by: littlelordfonts on 28 March 2014, 13:20
Can any one tell how pictures are displayed on profiles on the phone screen?
I have an iPhone 5s and have saved a picture on profiles as 240 x 240 in a jpeg which displays on my phone bout not on the car screen?
Thank you

So is this down to the iPhone rather than the CMS system? If Apple enable rsap it may work?

Yup, it's down to the phone, i doubt apple will ever add rsap tbh, they haven't bothered yet and it's quite old technology now.

Awesome - should be making the switch to Android in the near future so that'll be a nice bonus.

One odd thing i found with the S4 was the car used it's own ringtone but you just get whatever ringtone you've got with the iphone.

The problem with RSAP (regardless of phone make or model) is that it completely disconnects your phone from the network. I know strictly speaking you should not be using the phone while driving for anything involving data connections but we all do it sometimes.

Does it? Never had any problems with the galaxy while waiting for the wife, and if you mean using the internet while driving? We don't all do it.

Why won't it work then? It won't read txt's from the iphone either.

To get RSAP you need the Premium Telephone kit which is available in every market except the UK. In the UK only the advanced telephone kit is available with the induction box to try and improve the phone signal. If they offered the RSAP system, the induction box, which only seems to work for iphones, wouldn't be necessary. Different phones have different versions of the HFP, (hands free protocol) (which is what UK Mk7s connect through) they offer different functionality but they all still rely on the phone's own aerial, unlike RSAP. No one at VW UK seems to know why they don't offer the Premium kit but I think it is either an attempt to encourage people to buy an Audi that does offer it or because someone at VW thinks people only buy iPhones.
I have the advanced telephone kit and to get any improvement in phone signal with my Galaxy S3 requires you to take the phone out of its case first and even then its very marginal. I ended up getting VW to refund me the cost of the advanced telephone kit and I intend to get an aftermarket premium (RSAP) telephone kit fitted.
