hi gents- was driving yesterday -put my foot down and my traction control and engine light came on.i know traction control light is linked to the maf -and it comes on occasionly but goes out when i turn key off and on -had a new orig maf on 12 months ago . both lights stay on now when im driving .got codes read -p0102 mass air flow sensor signal too low . the other code which relates to the engine light coming on is -01314/013 engine control module check dtc memory . both lights coming on at same time mean they gotta be linked -car drives great still apart from dash lights and fault codes. know what all possibilities of individual codes -but thers got to be a link between them -anybody got any ideas ? thankyou in advance
-
been researchin my prob from older posts -and maybe the engine control module fault code and engine dash light are there because of the maf sensor -signal too low fault code .so does signal too low mean theres not enough voltage goin to the maf sensor -maybe broken/damaged wire or coil pack or naff relay/fuse. any ideas anybody ?
-
My money would be on the MAF, I had the same problem last year.
-
did the faulty maf cause your engine management llght and traction light to come on and stay on dom ?
-
did the faulty maf cause your engine management llght and traction light to come on and stay on dom ?
Yup, the only disappeared when I fitted a new one and reset the fault codes
-
jesus my maf is only 10 month old -original from dealers too - did u get the fault codes ive got dom ?
thing i dont understand is she still drives great ?
-
The signal to low means that your maf is sending a very low signal to the ecu. Nothing to do with power to the maf
-
explain more please thanks
-
so i could mean a faulty wire from the maf to the ecu or as dom says just a faulty maf sensor ?
-
Dom is right its the maf sensor thats gone bad
-
If you look for the fault code in the ABS module in VAG COM it will point you to the engine module for the fault which in your case is the MAF
-
well it looks like another new maf - it was the engine management light that got me worryin a bit - will part x maf at dealer next week an clear codes and hopefully that will sort it - thank gents for your input

took me 3 refurbed mafs to finally get one that worked. Get the new maf logged on vagcom and see how much air it is reading.

been to the dealers today -£118.18 for the sensor without the housing -no part ex. guaranteed brand new not refurb -according to their computer it the last 1 that vwuk av in stock . my last 1 was fitted 10to12 month ago -was told it was brand new -vw part guy checked serial number and said it was a refurb.
-
got my maf sensor today from the dealers -didnt get the housing , it only adds to the cost . the parts guy gave me discount so got it for £98. took my old sensor out and saw the part number was 06a-906-461-lx, (the x meaning its a refurb the guy told me).my new sensor had the part number 06a-906-473-a.so i checked the number in the thread about faulty mafs , and it was lissted as the 1st part number .so i phoned the parts guy up and told him and he said dont worry its the 1 for my car -so i put it on . started her up and drove around th block and back home , knocked engine off then back on and the traction control light didnt stay on  turned then engine on and off again and the engine management light didnt stay on  :smiley:so i didnt have too get the fault codes removed to loose the warning lights .drove 50miles since today and its 100%perfect
