Morning All
Where any of you advised that your car needed returning to the dealers for a 1500 mile check up ??
It is free supposedly but this seems a bit of a throwback to the old days
Anyone had it and know what's done ??

Mines on 2300 and i haven't been back, i just got told to come back in a year.
-
I might struggle to get it back to the dealer at 1500 miles as I'm exporting it to Cyprus 1 day after collecting, which is very very soon!!!!

Don't they have any VW dealers in Cyprus? Genuine question by the way.

For 7 VWs bought from new, I have never heard of taking the car back for a 1500 mile check.

They do - hopefully I'll be back soon enough for the 1st annual service though, not a clue how having a Cypriot VW dealer stamp in there will affect resale value in the future lol!
-
I've not taken mine back, apart from for its 10k service.

When I bought my mk6 in 2012 they asked me to bring it in for a 1500 mile check. I never bothered, by the time I remembered I'd already done more than double that.
-
I have asked about this and was told first service is 10K.
I tried to explain to the 'dolly bird' receptionist about how some high performance engines need a running in service but she was having none of it.

But the engines in the Golf GTI / R arent exactly high-performance or special hand-built engines to warrant a 1500 mile Oil change / service.
I could understand it, if the VAQ diff needed a 1500 mile oil change though like BMW M cars do but they don't as far as I am aware.
-
I will be the guinea pig then to see what happens. Only done 400 miles so far though
-
My first return for a service is 30,000kms or 2 years...

Yeah understood, I do actually have an M car too. Just frustrates me when you are trying to explain something slightly technical and the lasses the put on reception have no idea what you're talking about and it's impossible to speak to the mechanic.
I take my M to a local specialist, just two guys. It's wonderful to be able to converse directly with them about any concerns or issue I may have. Simply don't get that at a main dealer, too many steps in the ladder and often end up like chinese whispers.
