Standard to joms to weitecs to joms to ...... a spring and shock kit. Basically sick of coilovers I want comfort and as much lows as possible I think im going to go for the h and r kit 50/40 now I know I can get the front down to 60mm with the aid of polo mounts but what can I do to help the rear ? Can I remove the rubber mounts on top of the rear springs ? Or will that just cause a load of vibrations ?

Yes you can get rid of that bit of rubber, I lost one of mine and was wondering why the car was kind of wonky.

Off the top of my head there a good 15mm thick arnt they ? I suppose I could use a bit of hose to avoid metal on metal ?

Ive just gone out and measured the height. At the second im 320mm centre of wheel to arch which is a 50mm drop from the standard height of 370mm now if the h&rs actually lower the car by 50mm coupled with the polo mounts and rear rubber removal I should technically be lower than it currently is! I highly doubt they will lower the car the full 50mm though.

also, from my experience in the past, once you get past 40mm, shock and spring kits aren't that much comfier than coilovers at the same height.
be interesting to see if you notice a different though... what spring and shock you going for?

I am looking at upgrading my shocks and springs, waiting for a good deal to pop up.
They really are not a bad ride at all and I have standard shocks, I think, and H&R springs.
Bilstein b6/8/12 for me next.

All ive read about h&r springs is how comfy they are on pretty much everything they do the 55/40 kit which according to damien is quite nose heavy but if I can counter that by fiddling with the rear (got to be a joke from that surely haha) then all should be good
