Title: 8v / 16v Back box Q

Just bought a tidy Scorpion DTM exhaust. Think its from a 16v. I have the 8v

 Want to stick it on tonight, is it a case of just knocking off the old system and putting this on and clamping it, or will the pipe size differ?

Looking on the scorpion website both exhaust are the same comming in either 70 or 76mm.

BTW is it easy to change the back box? No welding required? ;p

the pipe's are a different bore size and it will rattle like a dick in a bucket unless you get a reducing pipe. changing the box is easy and no welding is required although you might need to move the hanger bracket on the body. just loosen it and spin it round 90 degrees :smiley:

valver bore is 58mm if my memory serves. As above you will need a reducer pipe, oh and make sure that if you have big bumpers its not a pre 90 exhaust, it will still fit but it will slam against your big bumpers if it is a pre 90 exhaust.

Got it on but what a twit it was getting the old one off. Had to get the dremel out and cut the slice further :)

  Just got to swing the rear bracket around as with no rubber there its sitting on the body work. Job for tomorrow when i put my suspension on :D

Hi mate, did you need to use a reducer? or did it fit ok?

let me know how it goes! I just had a look at the prices of them on iconstyling (not sure if they are cheap or an expensive site) but that back box was £189!

Yea got it one fine mate. Only problem is that its resting on the chasis. tried moving the rear bracket no help. It needs to sit a bit lower.

  Went to Pro-Speed to day and the cars going in for a custom stainless steel system so it will e comming off and up for sale again lol :)

Good sound on it, sounds like a touring car :p

** Anyone know if a MKII 88 8v will have a CAT on it? ** If not saves me a few quid :)

To be honest I've never seen a cat on a mk2 Gti 8v * thats been registered in the UK Ive only seen them on foreign registered ones but as long as your engine code is a PB then you shouldn't have one .

*( But I've seen plenty of paw prints on the roof and bonnet :grin: :grin: )
