I have been offered a K03s for £100 but the seller says "there is a small bit of float in vein but any used turbo will".
Now I'm no mechanic so I haven't got a clue what hes talking about!? Is this normal or is this bad? :undecided:

where the centre section moves up and down, very little side to side play is ok, but if it moves up and down you run the risk of the oil passing and damaging the turbo so either buy the turbo and get it refurbished or go for another one,
I bought one a year ago with no movement and its dead, off for refurbish as we speak... so if you buy used you always run the risk..

How much would a refurb be?
-
anything from £180 to £400 depending where you go and the amount of damage and that's ex VAT
-
A small amount of play is normal until the bearings have had oil pumped through.

So would this be fine then once its on the car and got the oil feed?

a tiny bit of up and down play is ok (and I mean tiny) any in/out play is NOT
