as above ive purchased some new g60 top mounts for my mk2 golf 16v which has a vr6 lump in and the old mk2 standard ones are shot. <<<<i know im naughty i should of upgraded before.
so my question is ive only got the mount its self and hope to use all other items which are standard mk2, it has coilovers and has a knocking sound which is very annoying when driving along.
im i right in thinking it should have
in order
1. spring plate
2. bearing
3. mount
4. top plate cover <<< will this fit with g60 mount
5. nut

also does anyone know if i can drop the strut without undoing the x2 massive nuts at the bottom + messing with my camber
-
You can drop it down and wiggle top mounts out and in without messing camber up
-
I just undone the top and used a massive sledgehammer handle to pry it down enough when I did mine to vr6 mounts.

did this and worked fine
i would mention anyone doing this job be very carful there’s no tension on the springs/coilovers before you take the slotted nut off the top spring plate, I thought my coilovers were wound down enough but weren’t and i nearly DIED.
on the downside of things still LOL, my knocking noise is still there and i would of died for no good reason  its driving my mad, so although i think its coming from somewhere else on the car, ive gone and spent more money on new coilovers, the ones on before weren’t rated for the vr6 so thought it needs doing before the struts give way which were only rated for a 16v engine.
got some fk streets on the way <<< im on a budget :nerd:

Get some leverage on the anti roll bar and see if there's play on the inner bushes. Cheap but need to lower subframe to change

Which WILL put the camber/tracking out.
