Hello again all,
So I've just gone and bought my self a k03s for my golf to replace my k03, (http://)
Any advice on fitting and how hard it is? And any advice on wether I shud order any new bits for it, the turbo has no play but guess best to be safe than sorry.
Also will I notice any difference starlight away or will I need to upgrade anything els?
My car currently has a panel filter and remap by amd. Also ordered a tip and already have decat
Cheers

What turbo is on it now k03 or k03s?
oh ye before fitting the new turbo take the fuel pump relay out and start the car till it dies. Fit new turbo dont fit fuel pump relay back in. Crack the car a few times so you get some oil into the turbo then replace relay and start it. Should be good to go. But if you have a k03 on it now then you will need a remap as the k03s is rated as 180bhp as sta dard & the k03 is 150 as standard.

Hi sharki thanks for the reply, and thanks for advice, currently I have the k03 on it, the car has already been remapped to 190 bhp so will it need another remap?
-
Id say so as its a different turbo. But someone else may say something different. What else will you be modding?
some have said they bought some new seals, bolts and nuts for the turbo. I would go to vw or tps (trades part specialist) and get new turbo seals, bolts & nuts. Will you be taking the manifold off? Also i would clean the turbo lines out. You never know whats in them

Ok cheers. Makes seance I suppose, best to be safe, just the tip and been reading ur posts on the s2k filter but as my latest spots says I've been looking at another one, wud appreciate it if u wud advise me on it if u no anyone who has used it?
-
Also if u have any gd ideas on what els to mod I would be greatful

It should be fairly plug and play if you follow the advice above. With regards to the map you will be fine to drive it I should think but bear in mind you wont be getting the full best out of it.
There is a very small difference between the turbos so its not like your upgrading to a huge turbo!
As for future mods look at an FMIC to lower temps. Remember more power for go needs more power to stop! think brakes!
-
Ok thanks for that, yer I've been looking at the fmic u get on eBay for around the 200 mark, but read good and bad reviews :-/ but don't really wanna spend a huge fortune on one. And as for the brakes was thinking about drilled and grooved with braided hoses ???
-
Also got decat but only have standard back box, wud it make a big difference getting a full system? But wud wnt a resonated one as don't want the old bill pulling me every 5 mins due to noise as only live in a small town
-
Don't expect more power from the K03s unless you have it mapped with the supporting modifications. Brakes wise you won't need anything big if at all, a decent set of pads would be fine.
-
larger bore decat downpipe will make a difference even with the rest of exhaust as standard - well worth doing
stick with grooved discs as drilled seem to have a tendency to crack easily from past expereience
-
Resonated is the quiet one
-
When you say how hard is it -
I took my K03s off yesterday as its shot and needs a rebuild - I started at 7:30am and finished at 11:30am, its fiddly as hell and you end up switching from under the car to over the car all the time lol
Worth it when its all sorted though
In regards to upgrades, just look at peoples sigs and go as far as you want...
-
I have grooved disks. They realy good and aint cracked.
fmic is worth is all the way. If you want a better induction kit then get one thats a cold air kit (sits right at the bottom) but be carefull in wet weather as your engine will nock the water back.
also for non resonated systems, cops wont say jack to you AS LONG AS YOU DONT FLOOR IT PAST THEM lol
my mk3 is loud and drowny as anything but i only use it 1 off and never floor it to hear that throaty beefed up noise from the back :lipsrsealed:
-
Unless it states not for road use, there shouldn't be a problem with the amount of noise
-
Louder is better

I've been looking at the fmic u get on eBay for around the 200 mark, but read good and bad reviews :-/
I run an eBay FMIC on my MK3 conversion and it does the job perfectly. I don't think you'll be running the power on a K03s that requires huge Forge intercoolers. I'd say buy the core seperate though and route your own pipes and I had to throw out a lot of the kit

If your stage 2 on a K03s you need an FMIC, what limits the ebay FMIC is the diameter of the tubing you need to be above 2" (preferably 2.5") for it to be worthwhile fitting one
