This may be a daft question, but what areas of the underside of the car have people used when jacking the car up with a trolley jack and positions for axle stands?
Planning on painting the calipers week after next and it's always a pain finding the safest place.
Thanks,
Martin

Jacking points are under the sills, if its a GTI, just before or after the plastic side skirt, depending wheather your doing front or back.
Axle stand point at front : I use the console bush (big silver semi circle that connect to your control arm)
on the rear, i use the sills where the jacking point is.
In fact - just read this mate: http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4578

I use standard jacking points with a piece of 2x1 on top of jack with a slit cut in not to trash sills use the front subframe with axle stands i used a few pieces of 2x1 stacked in top of each other under rear wishbone some people disapprove of the wood however you don't need to jack the car so high and its safe if you do it properly
