Title: GEARBOX WONT SELECT 2ND + 4TH GEAR!

SO YESTERDAY I SET OFF TO GO TO A CRUISE, WENT AND FILLED UP AS NORMAL NO PROBLEMS EVER BEFORE AND AS I LEFT THE PETROL STATION WOULDNT GO IN SECOND GEAR SO I PULLED OVER AND WAS LIKE I HAD NO 2ND GEAR AT ALL OR 4TH!!... EVENTUALLY AFTER SOME WIGGLING IT WORKED SO I SET OFF AGAIN, BUT ON AND OFF 2ND AND 4TH GEAR JUST DONT SEEM TO BE THERE! BUT THEN THEY ARE... ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM??

ITS A GOLF 1.8 TURBO GTI, 2001 PLATE BTW!! 5 SPEED BOX

Have you check the selector tower on the top of the gearbox?

Something could be jamming the cables not allowing 2nd and 4th.

mine had a broken clip where it joins the tower, so the inner and outer cable were just moving together.

did a temp repair with a jubillee clip
