Hey,
Did my RNS310 come with my GTI? I have this aerial on it that I don't see on many golfs, is this the standard aerial for the gps? I find the gps pretty bad at tracking my location.
I rarely use it because it usually picks up my location wrong if i'm on country roads, in the city it seems ok and I have the v4 uk and ire maps.
Here is the aerial in question that came with the car.

That's just the standard FM aerial mate, probably find your GPS antenna is under the dash if the unit is a retro fit

Okay cool, so if it did come standard would there be a different aerial on it? Also another quick question, any good shark fin aerials to replace that aerial for the am/fm? Without having to rewire?
Thanks! :)

Yeah you would have a sharkfin or the newer type larger nav/fm ariel fitted if the nav unit was installed at the factory, if you have the rns310 unit then that's definitely a retro fit as it was never fitted to the mk5, the rns510 was bit only for around late 57 reg onwards..
OEM sharkfin seems a popular choice to renew the normal antenna

Yep as above RNS 310 was never originally fitted to the GTI since it didn't come out until 2009/ 2010. It does work quite nicely though, I've retrofitted one to mine. Also doesn't suffer the same battery drain issue as some of the other head units. Would suggest relocating the GPS antenna or replacing if necessary.
