Title: MK3 electric windows
Post by: thebassman on 14 March 2014, 13:28
Hi
Neither of my rear windows work at all, I am thinking this is just the usual knackered motors.
The switch clicks but then nothing.
This has been like it for ages, I'm not too worried as no-one ever goes in the back.

Last week the drivers window stopped working , no click at all from the door switch. Is this likely to be a new switch required? maybe the relay? or just yet another motor.

cheers

How old is the car?

Might be worth checking the wiring in the doors. They usually breakinside to door rubber grommets

Window regulator failure...standard MK3. In fact i'm not sure I know a MK3 without at least one funny window!

It's a 1995 N reg.

I will have a look at the wiring.
I'm doing a bit of a service tomorrow anyhow.

Yeah, sounds right.
I can live with one funny window, but all 4 of mine are knackered now .

Bit of a funny window update.

I checked the wiring, all looks ok.

I removed the switch from the drivers side door arm rest to have a look at the condition of the pins/ contacts, all looked ok. I plugged it back in and both front windows started working ok.

Although, next morning, now only the front passengers window still works, drivers side back to nothing.

Has anyone got a schematic for the switch/ wiring for the front windows.
My car is a 1995 MK3 GTI ADY engine.

If all else fails I might try and get a replacement window switch.

cheers

I would change the switch mate and be done with it!
