Hi fellow dubbers im a t4 transporter owner but have saved a 99 mk4 1.8t gti agu from the scrappers. I hate seeing cars scrapped for little or no reason.
I gave him £200 it has 19's and has half decend body.
The problem is there is no boost when driven and hunts on tickover, if revved its close to stalling after revs drop. It has a boost gauge which show's there is boost there when revved.
Ive borrowed my mates snap on solus and its came up with codes 00515 camshaft sensor and 16514 oxygen sensor (lambda) when I unplug the maf it idles and revs fine but comes up with maf not reading code.
I dont want to throw loads of money at it and end up nowhere but also want to save it from the scrapper.
Sorry for the lack of knowledge im used to dirty diesels.
Any help would be great.
Thanks Lee

Sounds as though you have a boost pipe disconnected. The car will behave as you describe as the maf is measuring unmetered air.

camshaft sensor is an easy job too, if the car revs and then cuts out that is the symptom of a faulty camshaft sensor, replaced mine a few months ago. the car may run and then you pull up to a stop and it just dies (it wont restart because it gets too hot and you have to wait for it to cool before it starts again)
