Title: just for something different..
Post by: tenrohle on 08 March 2014, 19:05
To contradict 90% of the threads in this sub forum I'd like to say that my 44,000 mile 2010 Golf Gti 5 door DSG :

- isn't broken in any way
- goes like the clappers
- puts a smile on my dial every time I slip it into 'S' and plant my foot
- looks very nice, even more so with some new LED tails
- gets a surprisingly good mpg seeing I drive like a loon (sometimes)
- is the best little car I've owned to date and I don't think I'll ever own a manual again as the DSG is incredible

I love it and I'm glad I bought it!

Mines also a March 2010 GTI manual and have read the horror stories about the dreaded timing chain issue.
I'm @ 40k and have to admit the car runs very sweet with no knocking.

I contacted the original VW garage who serviced it up to 29k and a close mate who also works for vw/audi group and both assured me its not a common issue.  Having said that service booked in with http://www.lincoln-vw.co.uk/ and will mention it to them for peace of mind.

Don't listen to them when they say its not a common fault, just look how many on this forum have suffered with it, I'm one of them!

Some dealers say they have never heard of it while some are very aware of it and now all about it
