Title: Water leak
Post by: 1 gti on 07 March 2014, 18:26
Howdy  just went to use my anniversary which i don't use often and noticed a line following me. Pulled over and noticed liquid pouring out by the tank, immediately thought it was petrol until I smelled it. Looked in the boot and it was fit for ducks!! I think it's coming in from rear drivers light lense. Anybody know how much the seals are and if it's an easy fix? Cheers

Pop the light off. In fact take both rears off. Clean all the muck and grime from around them. Give the body part a really good clean and re install. You will find the amount of dirt stops the foam doing its job. A few bolts and the lights are off.

proberbly the vent under the rear light needs re-sealing.

Is the vent seal in with the rear lense seal? If not, how do I get the vent out? Cheers

no. its not part of the light, but much more likely to be the vent in the boot than the rear light imo.

bit of a common problem, theres a thread on ukmkivs with a how to on fixing it. have a look and you will understand what im going on about.
