Title: Milltek exhaust question
Post by: legg360 on 06 March 2014, 21:17
I was having a look today at my exhaust, and if I have a 2 1/2" or 3" system or a bit of both. I think its a resonated system (as it has a silencer in the middle) and want to lose this to make the car a bit louder as its a bit quite for me. Is it possible to get a non-resonated middle section in 3"?

What ive got at the moment is the tips (MSVW379) are 2 1/2", the rear silencer (MSVW353) is between about 2 1/2", the centre silencer is 3" couldn't fit under the car to get its number

Heres a few pics of what it looks like if it helps

This is the bit im thinking of changing

No doubt you've thought of this but if you have a local exhaust manufacturer near you longlife etc i'm sure they be happy to knock you up a mid section or if your handy with a tig welder just get some pipe bent

I just about trust myself with a spanner and hammer wouldn't go near a welder... last time I tired to weld something it didnt turn out well!! I have thought about getting a full system made but its the extra cost. In time I plan to get the downpipe ect for this system when one come up for sale 2nd hand.

Been doing some more research. Found this so maybe I need to change the rear section not the mid section

3-inch Race System. Non-resonated (louder)
1 x Adaptor to standard OEM downpipe
1 x Centre Silencer Assembly
1 x Non-Resonated Rear Silencer Assembly
2 x GT100 Tip Assembly

Edit:

Found this on ebay, anyone got/had one fitted?

yeah this is the same exhaust i have, 3" race exhaust.

Have you had someone drive your car fast whilst you listen from the outside, they actually sound really nice and powerful rather than tinny and ricey.

There are 3 things that can really improve the sound with this exhaust. a remap instantly gives you a deeper / louder raw, and a decent intakes also seems to deepen it.

the final thing that made the most difference was getting rid of the pre-cat, not only does it free up about 5-8hp it also give it a deeper note. Those 3 things combined really changes how it sounds, so if you have or thinking about doing those mods, hold off on removing the silencer.

And finally, if you are going to buy the downpipe i would definitely not remove the silencer, it will be too loud and droney.

yea im just being impatient, I will eventually if I have enough money ill have a carbonion with stage 2 pipe, full milltek 3" turbo back system, full forge silicone intakes and intercooler hoses, forge twintercooler, sachs clutch with single mass flywheel and revo stage 2... problem is to much stuff not enough money... and after all that ill need mods to get the power on the road and that's another list of things.

With this list tho it should sound really good even if it does just wheel spin and hop everywhere lol
