Hi guys first real post here. I bought a Mk4 GTi about two weeks ago. 2001 2.0L 8V it had 92k on the clock and full service history. I really like the car but it's a bit bouncy on my Lincolnshire commute. Now I'm used to bouncy as I normally drive an old beetle but this seems excessive, I'm nodding like the Churchill dog and I'm not even breaking 60 sometimes! I only bought the golf till I get my '72 beetle back on the road...
So bearing in mind this car is "temporary" what can I do, on a tight budget mind, to stiffen my ride? I'm only after a wee tighten not drastic teeth shattering alterations.

4 new shock absorbers should sort it

Some JOM coils for 150ish.

Dont do a thing, dont waste ya money, like you said its only temporary and you have no budget deal with it till ya bugs back

not to hijack your thread mate haha but mines complete opposite, go over a speedbump and it feels like my cars been dropped from about 30 foot. Seems to be no give in mine at all. Guess what ever advice you get, i need the opposite :undecided:

I know I shouldn't do anything, and I know it's only temporary but it's so nice it might warrant a long term place on the drive...so new shocks are probably going to set me back about 150? I'll need to wait a few pay days since the bug is going to be a few k to get fixed. Cheers for the ideas though :)
