Title: Throttle pedal not moving evenly
Post by: vicciu on 05 March 2014, 17:13
Hi! I have a 16v golf mk3 and today I noticed that the throttle pedal is acting strange. The problem is that when pressing the pedal, in certain positions, the throttle gets stuck and you have to apply some force to push the pedal through each of these points. The strange thing is that the throttle is returning fine without getting stuck.

Does anyone know a solution to the problem?

A random guess as my mk3 also does this, but it's possibly a worn/sticky cable itself last time I looked as my cable has stretched quite far and aged.
It's as if the cable itself is actually catching in the sleeve as you press it down so you have a throttle that almost goes in steps.

Yeah probably the cable. Disconnect it from the throttle body and see if it moves freely in its sleeve from both ends. If it does then check to see if the actual throttle body butterfly is gummed up with crap.

Ive got a spare ABF throttle cable if you need one mate.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to disconnect the cable and see if the problem is in the cable
