Title: Rattle on deceleration
Post by: seabrook132 on 04 March 2014, 18:55
 Hey all,

Opened up my windows on drive into work today (what a luxury for it to be warm enough for that :P) and noticed on deceleration that I have a rattle coming from underneath the car. I know that the wastegate rattle is a common problem but after a search of the forum it seems that this rattles on acceleration, can someone confirm it's only on acceleration that the wastegate rattle occurs?

If it's not that then I guess it's something to do with the exhaust heatshield? Hoping to make it to the dealer at some point this week to check it out but wondered if there was a general consensus as to what it probably is?

Aside from this I am absolutely loving the car :)

Thanks guys

This video best matches the noise I'm hearing so I guess it could be the waste gate rattle then as according to the thread on golfmk6.com the clip solved this.

Hopefully will get car to the dealer tomorrow

Yeah it was the waste gate rattle for me. Fixed by dealer under warranty with the little spring clip that has been mentioned in other posts on the subject.

Glad it is sorted, yes - i had exactly the same thing in my Scirocco and clip was replaced by the dealer under warranty.
