Title: Just got my Golf out the Garage for the summer &...
Post by: GodofCod on 04 March 2014, 18:47
It's broken

It idles fine, It drives under low revs but as soon as I try go faster than 10 mph it dies!

It ran like a peach before I put her in the garage, & it has done about 50 miles since its last service & there doesn't appear to be a misfire (engine note doesn't change when I pull out the leads one by one)

I think their may be an issue with the temp sensor because as soon as I start it the temp gauge goes to hot & the light starts flashing.

Is this my problem? Has anyone else had anything similar?

I am indeed an amateur, not only did I fail to mention its a mk2 GTI cab. But I also failed to mention its the special release that undoes it's own spark plugs whilst garaged!! Problem solved!

I am now banned for ever picking up a spanner again. I hope at least I have given you a laugh.  :embarrassed:

mk2 GTI cab.

Mk2 GTI Cab ? As in soft top?
There wasn't a Mk2 soft top. They carried on making the Mk1 shape cabriolet till something like 1991.

While that's true I have seen, a mk2 gti converted into a cabby once.
