Title: How do I fix this?
Post by: WeekendMechanic on 03 March 2014, 07:55
I turn the key and no crank only a long grinding noise untill I let go of the key.
Then when I try it again it starts like nothing is there and continue ok for about two weeks sometimes even a whole month, can anyone give me some insight into what is causing this and how to stop it?
Thanks

Get the battery health checked sounds like its giving in , the click will be your starter motor not getting enough power to turn over the engine

Then start looking at the starter motor its self

My battery is fine its just a little over a year old and its not just one click, its a grinding noise like metal on metal.

New starter motor then!

Dont think you can get the solenoid section separately

Sounds like the solenoid isn't pushing it out fully or there are worn teeth.
