Hi there
I'm having a problem with my mk4 golf 1.6s 16v engine code BCB
I've been having trouble starting it for the last few weeks and more so on wet and/or cold mornings.
The spark plugs and coils are fine and so far I've changed the coolant temperature sensor, and a new battery was put in about a month and a half ago as the old one was completely flat.
It's struggling to get going, and seems to rev up to around 500 rpm when turning the key and then just cuts out.
It eventually starts after I put the throttle down to help it catch, at around the 500 rev mark or sometimes I have to put the throttle down all the way before cranking it to get it going.
Once it does start, it drives perfectly as if it's never had a problem.
It's very frustrating, especially when in a hurry.
I've read somewhere that it might be a crank sensor, but not sure as it's not showing the typical signs of a faulty crank sensor.
Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated!
Please let me know if you need any more info

Get it scanned and check for vacuum leaks
