Title: boost problems

Hi guys, I have a 2009 golf gt tdi 140, i'm having issues mainly in first and occasionally second gear.
50% of the time when accelerating its flat with no power, but if I let off the accelerator quickly and back on it boosts fine.
During this 'flat' spot, of no boost, if I leave my foot down I can hear a weird purring/rattle noise and then a burning rubber type smell and the fan comes on, so I tend to change gear up from 1st pretty quickly.
Any advice would be great-thanks Brad....oh and I have had the diagnostics done and no fault codes at all !!!!

im having a similar problem in my golf 1.9 150 pd very sluggish in 1st and second gear under 2000 rpm and then it picks up no problem,anyone with any ideas? im new to the forum
