hi all
my golf 1.8t agu is running on three cylinders. Tried:- new ignition module, swapped coils , swapped spark plugs. on my 4th pin of the ignition module supply (spark signal for coil 3) im getting 5v constant ?? not getting the same on any of the others.
could it be a faulty ecu?

Have you scanned for fault codes?

hi thx for ure reply ,
ive jus done it again had car running for 20 mins on 3 cylinders trying to get it to throw a code but it hasnt, this is why i bought a new ign module after reading on forums. the thing that doesnt seem right is ive got my ignition on and ive got 5v between pin 3(ground) and 4 (signal) on the connector from ecu to ign module there isnt any thing between pin 3 to any of the others ? and ive read so many diff threads im confusing my self lol, but im sure its meant to be a - ve signal from ecu or is that wat comes out of ign module?

What engine code?

AGU
-
im assuming that it is misfiring so you should get a misfire code from the knock sensor. If your not getting a code then I would guess that your ecu is the problem
-
dont know much about it, would it cause a misfire code if there is no spark at all in that chamber or only if it firing at the wrong time ?

As far as I no it will cause a misfire code because I had a lot of trouble with misfires and the code comes up about 30 seconds after it happens. 1 way of testing the ecu is to start plugging things out while the engine is running for example plug out 1 ignition coil at a time or 1 injector at a time. When coils or injectors are plugged out and the car running it will throw an open circuit code for each 1 unplugged

it does when i pull an injector out but it wont show anything with any of the coils out, iv got 14v across terminals 15 and 1 on the coil that isnt firing and 1v with the same test on the rest ?? could i have a short in the loom? but this wouldnt explaint constant 5v out of ecu to ign module

im not sure about the volts. Are you sure the plug is not sparking. I would check the spark plug gaps, then inspect the whole ignition loom and do a compression test.

AGU doesn't register misfires in VAG COM
