Title: Pot hole
Post by: Snooze on 28 February 2014, 23:28
F**ks sake. Just get my car back from bodyshop and she's looking sweet. Then on way home tonight I hit a cavernous pot hole and I'm sure I've done some damage. Steering doesn't feel right now  Back to the garage I go. Defo gonna be getting some pics of the pot hole tomorrow tho. Council will be paying for any damage the useless c**ts.

Feel your pain snooze .  I hit one a bad one last year, resulting in new wheel.  Roads are disintegrating, every journey is a gamble.

On a lighter note, sounds like they did a good job on your bonnet.

Yeah happy with the bonnet cheers booth. Hopefully I'm being paranoid bout the pot hole. Gonna take my car to my friendly local garage to check my car out.

Good luck if you need a new wheel

I completely screwed a rim on the A1 a few years ago, took action and the Highways Authority provided a report showing they had complied with their obligations in terms of surveying the road surface. Hmmm, bloody great pothole and it's not down to poor maintenance. Work that one out.

Like I say, good luck.

I've got a claim ongoing after writing off one of my winter tyres last month and a damaged alloy plus tracking etc.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed (luckily the pothole had been reported two three weeks earlier and no repair so hoping that'll be in my favour!)

Went back next day to get photos and the pot hole had been filled. Cars at garage tomorrow to get checked out. I'll let ya know how it goes.

Well turns out my suspension is fine, my alloy is fine and the tracking is fine. It would appear that I'm a bit paranoid and my car is a bit tougher than I give it credit for!

It is easy to convince yourself that damage has been done when you've hit a bad pothole, though.  After having a couple of punctures in last few months, and the state the roads are in, I'm paranoid about that and find myself constantly checking my tyres, to the point where I've taken to carrying a tyre pressure gauge round in the glovebox, ready to whip it out at the mere hint of a puncture.
Sad, I know
