1987 GTI 16v
no issue starting or revving or even driving until it chokes or sometimes stalls.. if it stalls and dies its like a odd type of permanent death where the dash goes out and doesn't come back to life without disconnecting the battery first..
i have noticed that if i drive over something rough enough to vibrate the car its more likely to choke and or die but it is not always required..
feeling lost and hoping for help?

have you looked at the earth straps and battery terminals. they could be really lose and a jolt could be cutting the battery.

Check all your fuses and relays are properly seated too.

Thank you for the posts.. it has been fixed today.. school boy error..
Just finished doing fairly major restoration work on the internal wiring loom..
Involving a lot of battery on battery off for testing..
Car ran fine for a few weeks currently waterproofing around fuse box area..
Was sure it was fuse box related.. just needed more ideas..
Turns out.. yeah.. Sgt. Lemon nailed it.. Battery terminals that was left just finger tight had worked loose.
